At Shelbyville First United Methodist Church, we are dedicated to spreading the love and teachings of Jesus Christ to our community and beyond. The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
We believe that worship is a powerful way to connect with God and experience His presence in our lives. Our worship services are designed to be uplifting, inspiring, and centered around the teachings of Christ. Join us at 9:30 Sunday mornings or watch from home via Facebook at facebook.com/1shelbyumc
We have multiple small groups that meet weekly-
-Steve's Adult Sunday School class meets in the Chapel after Sunday service and is continuing "The Mayberry Bible Study".
-Pastor Leah's Bible Study group meets in the parlor after Sunday service and is currently studying the book Nehemiah.
-Pastor Marcy leads a Bible Study on Tuesdays at 10 am in the parlor. The group is studying The Letters of John. All are welcome to join at any time.
We support numerous missions, both in the Shelbyville community and worldwide. A few of the community ministries that we participate in are LOAF, Heart for Shelbyville Ministries and Dinner Before Bedtime.
The Mission Moment for October is the United Methodist Commision on Relief, UMCOR. Funds raised this month support administrative costs so that other funds raised go directly to those in need. Visit UMCOR - Global Ministries (umcmission.org) to see more on their work in disasters.
All are welcome to join us for fun and fellowship:
The first Sunday of the month we gather in the Parlor after worship service to visit. On the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, some members meet at the Bookmark Cafe in downtown Shelbyville to catch-up and reflect on God's work in their lives. We have also started an adult fellowship time on Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 in the parlor, called Sit-an-Gababit.
The FUMCee women's group meets regularly as well as a women's book club. Check the calendar below for dates and times.
Other events include rummage sales, picnics and game nights. Check back soon for our next event!
