Living our faith in Shelbyville means that First UMC prays and works for good for everyone in our community.
Members of First UMC serve our community in many ways. First UMC members serve on the Shelbyville City Council, the Shelbyville Police Department, on the boards of the Shelby County Historical Society, Shelby County Habitat for Humanity, and Shelby Senior Services, and through several other means and organizations that make a positive impact on our shared life.
A few of the many resources for developing congregational and community relationships are found at:
– The Baylor Institute for Faith and Learning
– A Hope Talk from Broadway UMC at the 2016 Session of the Indiana Annual Conference
– Sidewalks in the Kingdom (a book that has prompted Pastor Colin’s thinking)
– A quick insight on Shelbyville’s demographics (.pdf)
First UMC is a member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and Mainstreet Shelbyville, Inc.
We are proud to sponsor a soccer team through the Blue River Soccer Association.
